Tour de Alps

These photographs were taken during a road trip through the Alpine countries in 2021, when restrictions caused by the Chinese flu were starting to lift.

The drone’s first real deployment in the Alps

The first test flight of the drone took place during the Tour de Alps 2021 road trip. Over the course of five days, it flew briefly in Austria and then went to work in Slovenia. From there, we travelled through northern Italy to Switzerland, the main destination of the journey.

Our route led from the Carinthian castles of Haimburg and Hochosterwitz to the Logar Valley, Kamnik and Lake Bled. In Italy, we continued via Monte Santo di Lussari, Passo di Giau, Selva di Cadore and Santa Maddalena before reaching the Swiss Alps at Furka Pass, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Lake Brienz.

Then a large cloud rolled in, bringing heavy, persistent rain. We had to change our plans and make an early return to the Czech Republic, merely passing through Liechtenstein and Germany. Unfortunately, the cloud was moving northeast at a very respectable speed – exactly along our planned route. The Bavarian castles and the Tyrolean Alps around Innsbruck will have to wait until next time.
